Products
Artificial light accounts for around 19% of the worldwide consumption of electricity and thus for a considerable proportion of CO2 emissions. This amount can be significantly reduced by replacing inefficient technologies with state-of-the-art products like energy-saving lamps, innovative lighting systems and intelligent lighting management systems.
This is why our division for Research and Development is constantly hard at work, developing products that make a significant contribution to environmental protection. In doing so, a holistic approach to sustainable development is of great importance to OSRAM, which is why we consider the entire life cycle of our products - from an environmentally friendly product design to a safe disposal at the end of their life.
Environmental Portfolio
The OSRAM Environmental Portfolio is comprised of products, systems and solutions with outstanding energy efficiency, or services implementing their use. In fiscal year 2010, 70% of all OSRAM sales came from products that are part of the Environmental Portfolio. This way, OSRAM makes a direct and verifiable contribution to environmental protection.
